The Vocational Training Center, established by the Kırıkkale Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KTSO) to address the skilled labor shortage in the manufacturing sector, has attracted significant interest. Over the past two years, 351 individuals have received free training at the center.

The center, launched in November 2022, offers courses in Welding and CNC and aims to provide solutions to one of the biggest challenges in the national manufacturing sector: the shortage of skilled intermediate personnel. Kırıkkale, which has a prominent presence in the defense industry, faces particular challenges in finding qualified workers for manufacturing firms.

Ahmet Varlı, President of KTSO, emphasized that the center not only trains trainees but also assists them in finding employment in the private sector, which is the primary goal of the initiative. He added that by increasing the number of trainees and expanding vocational training into different sectors, the center aims to meet both the city’s and the nation’s workforce needs. Varlı also noted that anyone over the age of 18, regardless of gender, can benefit from the free courses offered at the Vocational Training Center.

Varlı reminded that Vocational Qualification Certificates, which are now mandatory in many sectors, are also issued through KTSO. To date, 14 exams have been conducted, and 104 trainees who received CNC and Welding training at the center have successfully participated in these exams to obtain their certificates.

Highlighting that the center uses state-of-the-art machinery and equipment, Varlı stressed that anyone interested in receiving training in Welding or CNC can apply to KTSO to benefit from the free courses. He concluded by affirming that efforts will continue to resolve the skilled labor shortage in the manufacturing sector.
