DISASTER RESPONSE TRAINING

Kırıkkale Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in collaboration with the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) Provincial Directorate, organized a training session on the Turkey Disaster Response Plan. The participants were provided with comprehensive information on disaster preparedness topics.

In order to inform its members about disaster preparedness and the necessary actions to be taken in case of emergencies, Kırıkkale Chamber of Commerce and Industry organized a training meeting, highlighting the importance of disasters once again due to the major earthquake that occurred on February 6th. The training, held in collaboration with the AFAD Provincial Directorate, was attended by Chairman of the Board Ahmet Varlı and chamber members. Chairman Varlı emphasized the need for our country, which is mostly located in an earthquake-prone zone, to be prepared with precautionary measures for all types of natural disasters and emergencies. He stated that natural disasters are a reality of life and although preventing them is impossible, it is possible to minimize the losses with proper precautions. Varlı reminded everyone that in Turkey, disaster and emergency response is carried out successfully under the coordination of AFAD, and emphasized the importance of all members being knowledgeable about the Turkey Disaster Response Plan, which includes ministries, institutions, organizations, private entities, and individuals involved in responding to any kind and scale of disasters and emergencies, and defines their respective responsibilities.

Officials from AFAD Kırıkkale Provincial Directorate provided detailed information to the participants, explaining the details of the Turkey Disaster Response Plan (TDRP), which is an integrated planning approach and a modular system that enables effective response to all types and scales of disasters and emergencies, involving public institutions, private sector, civil society organizations, and individuals, and minimizes operational risks during disasters. The presentation covered the background, definition, objectives, scope, operational levels, solution partners, gathering and sheltering areas in Kırıkkale, and the roles of institutions involved in the system during emergencies. The participants expressed their gratitude to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and AFAD Provincial Directorate, stating that this training, organized on a topic of critical importance for our country and province, was highly beneficial.
