Speaking to Sanayi TV, Kırıkkale TSO President and Kırıkkale Arms Industry Specialized OIZ Board Member Ahmet Varlı emphasized the advantages promised by the OIZ to its investors and the defense industry potential of the city. Stating that they aim to reach 100 percent of the nationalization rate in the sector, Varlı stated that the Arms Industry Specialized OIZ with 57 parcels, which started its production adventure under the leadership of MKEK and the Defense Industry Presidency, has the infrastructure to meet the plot demands of the investors. Stating that Kırıkkale offers many advantages, especially transportation, to the investors in every area in the 4th incentive zone, Varlı stated that they are in elbow contact with the Ahiler Development Agency for the problem of qualified intermediate staff with bleeding wounds of the industry. Stating that a target-oriented center will be established in the near future, Varlı said, “We will train intermediate staff for all sectors that manufacture for the metal sector”.

- Could you tell us about the importance of Kırıkkale in the defense sector?

Kırıkkale is a republic city formed with defense industry. Turkey's first defense move, with MKEK occurred in this city. From 1929 until today these institutions, Turkey's defense industry needs a government agency providing employment and make a very substantial investment in order to close the gap. In this sense, we have a defense industry culture. Everyone from 7 to 70 has memories with MKEK. In addition, this institution employs many of our people. Turkey, a difficult geography. For this reason, it has to be very good in defense industry and military technologies. We have the world's largest combat force, one of the largest armies. We need to bring our nationalization rate in the defense industry to 100 percent. There have been tremendous investments in this area recently, our nationalization rate has reached 70 percent, but our goal is 100 percent. The state and private sector are working for this business. We also established the Weapon Specialization OIZ under the leadership of MKEK. Our OIZ was established in 2010s. Our country's first specialized weapons OSB is in Kırıkkale. We established an OIZ with the founders of Kırıkkale Governorship, Defense Industry Presidency (SSB), MKEK, Kırıkkale TSO and Kırıkkale Municipality. As of now, the goal of the OIZ is to increase the rate of nationalization in the defense industry need of our country. Hopefully next time it will be Turkey's defense industry base in Kirikkale.
